Middle Week Carriage Rides at Ash Mill

Members enjoyed a very special visit to Stuart Harrison and his magnificent Suffolk Punch horses near by at Ash Mill.

After meeting the horses and hearing all about them, we watched them being harnessed and where then given a horse drawn ride to Bishops Nympton.

Lunch was enjoyed in the beautiful meadow in the glorious summer sunshine.

Everyone was made to feel incredibly welcome by Stuart and Steph, along with the gorgeous George and Joe who gave us all such a memorable horse drawn carriage ride.

Trip to East Quay Gallery, Watchet

Travel using the Community minibus

This is a great opportunity to view the current exhibition at East Quay, with the expert guidance of Frances Harrison.

The exhibition is: Always Coming Home, by Poulomi Basu.

Poulomi Basu is a neurodiverse artist with a transnational identity. She works with interdisciplinary and experimental media. Whilst the focus of her work is often on women of the Global South, like herself, her art and histories go beyond their places of origin. The exhibition brings together moving image, sculptural installation and photography.

We will also view the architecture of East Quay from the outside for a few minutes, so Frances can say a few words about it.

We can also walk on the seafront to the Ancient Mariner sculpture and have a couple of minutes about Coleridge and the line from the Ancient Mariner on the harbour wall.

We will then break for lunch (the café at East Quay, or one of Watchet’s other cafes or pubs, or bring your own), before leaving Watchet at about 2pm to return to Dulverton.
